Isla de Margarita is a popular holiday island just off the north coast of Venezuela – with a busy fishing fleet…
… and we enjoy eating their catch at a ‘local restaurant’.
We enjoyed a fun day at Parque El Agua with Wayne & Debbie from the yacht Sunshine.
The water slide seems very high from down below….
… and it was VERY HIGH from up the top!
We also stopped at Isla Cubaqua – site of the first European settlement in the Americas – they were after the pearls.
We had been told it was a risky place to stop – but the locals seemed very friendly.
And Isla Caracas del Este was another risky but beautiful anchorage…
… we were safe for one night, but another cruiser was stabbed whilst chasing his stolen dinghy after staying 3 nights.
We finally arrive at Bahia Redonda Marina in Puerto La Cruz – our home for the next 3 months during hurricane season.
There were some seriously large water lizards!
The local fishing boat harbour.
And the local market.
We spent 3 hot and sticky months painting the topsides – and having a new canvas bimini made…
… and the results – looking good and back afloat and racing in the Bahia Redonda Classic Regatta (with help from Nicolette and Tom from Katanne and Alice and Randy from Dally On.
It’s finally time to relax and enjoy – but the party was heavy duty!

The dugout canoes.
We finally arrive at the base of Angel Falls.
It rained overnight – notice how much more water is flowing over the falls.
Yes, we really were at Angel Falls!
The only downside was sleeping in hammocks overnight – especially as it rained!
Canaima Lagoon – awesome!
Flying over the Orinoco River Delta…
… and a view of El Sapo Falls.
Up to the Andes – and some time out at a converted monastery…
